With our Research Expertise espacially in the field of isotopic and elemental Analysis we want to contribute to the implementation of analytical tool for traceability and authenticity control of traditional Mediteranean foods. This will cover in detail the development/optimization of analytical procedures, the application of isotope analysis (e.g. 87Sr/86Sr) for provenance Analysis and the assessment of the data. Finally, we can bring in our Expertise when reference materials are required.
DESCRIPTION OF YOUR ORGANISATION:
The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a senior scientific and technical Federal institute with responsibility to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. It tests, researches and advises to protect people, the environment and material goods.

BAM's roles and responsibilities
According to its founding decree, BAM is responsible for the
•further development of safety in technology and chemistry
•implementation and evaluation of physical and chemical tests of materials and facilities, including the preparation of reference processes and reference materials
•promotion of knowledge and technology transfer within the BAM's areas of work
•cooperation in the development of statutory regulations, for example concerning the setting of safety standards and limits
•advice to the Federal Government, industry, and national and international organisations in the fields of material technology and chemistry.
Isotope analysis is an internationally accepted tool for analysing the provenance and/or authenticity of specific samples in archaeology, food production and others. Especially the 87Sr/86Sr isotope ratio can provide Information on the geographic origin of a sample. This can be improved by the combination with other isotopic data of elements such as C, N, O, H.
The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area will devise new R&I approaches to improve water availability and sustainable agriculture production in a region heavily distressed by climate change, urbanisation and population growth
