We are seeking a consortium and willing to take part in PRIMA project; call/topics: Sustainable Mediterranean agro-food value chain for regional and local development

DESCRIPTION OF YOUR ORGANISATION:
Expertises and skills of the National Institute for Physical and Chemical Analyses: The main research activities focused on:
1- phytochemical analysis (minerals by ICP-OES, ICP-MS, AAS; lipids and fatty acids by GC-FID, IRTF, and RMN; tocophenols by HPLC-UV, simple sugars by HPLC-IRD, volatile oils by GC-FID, GC-MS, and static Headspace; Phenolic compounds by HPLC-DAD, HPLC-MS, UPLC-MS-MS; organic acids by ionic HPLC)
2- detection of contaminants: pesticides GC-ECD, HAP: GC-MS-MS; antibiotics by HPLC-MS
3- Functional food (production of functional food through incorporation of bioactive ingredients omega-3-rich oils, phenolic antioxidants, selenium, colorants, etc..); caracterization, bioenrichment of olive oil, and improving its oxidative stability through natural ingredients.
4- Conversion of food and agri-food wastes into valuable biomass: valorisation of food waste as a source of bioactive ingredients to be incororated into functional food (bread, crisps, cookies, and dairy products etc..)
5- Application of innovants techniques for the extraction of valuables metabolites from: application of accelerated solvent extrcation, enzyme-assisted extraction; moleculrily imprinted polymers (MIPs, and NIPs), development of noval stationary phases for specific applications.
6- Evaluation of the antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, anti-hyperlipidemic activities of the studied raw materials/developed functional food/. Sensory analysis through e-tongue and e-nose of the formulated functional foods.
7- Vectorisation of bioactive ingredient through nanoparticules and their biomedical applications/ hydrogel for controlled release of bioactive ingredients
8- Conception and development of active films, nanocomposites, coating and packaging materials from residual sources.
The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area will devise new R&I approaches to improve water availability and sustainable agriculture production in a region heavily distressed by climate change, urbanisation and population growth
